Short Bio

Self-taught Sculpture Artist working in stone and wood

Statement

I enjoy art that draws me in, demands my attention for intense periods of time, and then sends me on my way with a new thought or perspective. I try to do that with every piece I make. I always have my 'audience' in mind when I'm creating and my goal is to deliver something unique, memorable, inspiring and extraordinary.

Biography

Sean C. Robertson is a Toronto-based artist currently exploring soapstone and wood sculpture.
Originally an actor, Sean performed in some of Toronto’s biggest shows including Mamma Mia!, The Lord of the Rings, and War Horse, until a back injury and the sudden onset of aggressive arthritis forced his retirement in 2013.

In this body of work, Sean has created sculptures honouring the strength one finds when faced with life’s seemingly insurmountable challenges, with each piece celebrating the tenacity of will.

Themes of Connection, Family, Resilience, Rebirth, Hope and Love, mixed with lines borrowed from dancers, Celtic ancestors, and the ocean, it is his intention that these objects inspire strength in the observer as well.
